Institute

The Institute for Immunology of the LMU was founded in 1978 and is part of the Medical Faculty. Since 2016 the Institute for Immunology is located in the Biomedical Center Munich on the Life Science Campus Großhadern/Martinsried.

The research topics in the house focus on subjects such as lymphocyte interaction and activation, tolerance, autoimmunity, vaccine research, immunity to tumors and infections. The detailed and up-to-date areas of research are listed as links with the individual research groups. Our research is financed entirely through external grants (DFG, SFB 1054, EU, Novartis, Sanofi).

The institute covers immunology teaching for medical students (MECUM-LMU) as well as for students of natural sciences (Nebenfach in Biology Masters program).

We have a regular series of immunology seminars with national and international speakers, which is of common interest for scientists and clinicians.
